At 3am a single car hit a row of parked vehicles causing extensive damage. The A283 was closed for approx two hours.
Police and ambulance services attended the scene. Both teenage driver and passenger walked away without serious injury, which is testament to modern vehicles safety features. The section of A283, Old Shoreham Road, was blocked and closed for around two hours whilst before the drivers vehicle was removed.
In addition to the drivers very badly damaged vehicle, two further vehicles are undriveable. A third vehicle suffered rear damage and a fourth minor damage. A similar incident occurred at the same blackspot less than two years ago.
We may have had a very different outcome if any pedestrians were in the vicinity when this incident occurred.
We again call upon our Councillors and the Highways Agency to make this section of road safer for all road users and pedestrians alike.
